Gauri bags gold in World University championship

Gauri Sheoran clinched a gold medal in the 7th World University Shooting Championship in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

The shooter from Chandigarh defeated Wang X of China by four points with a score of 37 in 25m pistol event.

The 21 year old from the City of Dreams, dreams india to become a sporting nation.

This medal is for Army, Women and upcoming sports persons of the nation. I want more and more people should come forward to support sports and Sportsman, Gauri said

The international shooter is now aiming at another medal in the kitty at World championship in Chezh Republic, Germany this May. She is following in her brother Vishwajeet Singh’s footsteps. Vishwajeet is also an international shooter in junior category. Both of them hail from Bhiwani. “I feel on top of the world as my daughter has brought laurels for the country. It’s good to see her nurturing her career in shooting,” said Gauri’s father Jagdeep Singh, an IAS officer.
